Parents Day @ Don Bosco Boys' Home

Don Bosco Boys' Home, as part of the month long celebrations in honour of our Father and Founder Don Bosco organized the parents meeting on 26th January 2016. Parents of 35 students actively participated in the meeting.

The meeting began with a prayer song lead our boys. Then Fr Sunny Uppan, the Rector cordially welcomed the gathering. He then addressed the parents and discussed with them the problems faced by the children in special situations. Sr Mary FMA conducted the next session on importance of personal hygiene and infectious dieses.

After the performance of the band we had our lunch together with parents. Then the children started the cultural programmes displaying their talents. The meeting was concluded by 3.30 and the parents returned home with a grateful heart.

DB Tech Kollam Receives National Recognition

Don Bosco Tech Kollam was awarded and recognized as one of the best centers for its passion and commitment to help young people learn employable skills and start their careers, by Quest Alliance which has nearly 200 Partners all over India for skill training. Among the six centers selected, four are Don Boscos; Don Bosco Makkalalaya Mysuru, and two from Tamil Nadu. The award was handed over by Mr.Akash, CEO Quest Alliance on 10th February during a National Seminar on 'Bridging gap between Education and Skills' at the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore.

Employers Alumni Parents Meet at DB.Tech, Kollam

As part of 3rd Anniversary of DB tech Kollam, organized an alumni meet with their employers and parents. On this day,11 batch was inaugurated in the presence of auspicious personalities. The ceremony commenced with a prayer by the students of DB Tech, Kollam, followed by Ms. Smitha.RR (Faculty-BPO ) gave an introductory talk about the schedule of the day.

Session by Dr. Sindha H. Mendez, (Professor, Karmala Rani B. Ed College) on the topic, Life: Opportunities and Challenges followed. A very contextual lecture addressed the challenges faced by the students in their initial days of work. She exhorted them to face the challenges with courage rather than running away from them.

Officially starting the inaugural function Ms.Dania Fransis (Faculty-Retail) welcomed the gathering. Rector and Director of DB Tech Kollam, Fr Sunny Uppan breafed the gathering about the beginnings of the Centre and the achievements that have come on its way. He was very proud in saying that in three years the centre could employ nearly 600 youngsters of the locality.

Ret. Rev. Msgr. Jesudas K. J. ( Vicar General ) inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp. Adressing the gathering, he acknowledged the great works done for the well-being of the young. He also urged the students to utilize the opportunities and skills provided by DB Tech within the training period to accomplish the goal that they have in life.

The purpose of the alumni was to gather the experienced knowledge from the past students in order to improve the tranning programme. The centre organized panel Discussions with representative of employers such as Vertex Customer care Management Solutions, Carnival Group, Al-Manama Hypermarket and few selected alumnis and their parents. Ms. Shahira. S. S moderated the session.

After the session, the chief Guest Msgr.Jesudas honoured the employers as well as the representative of the alumni. Quest Alliance and DB.Tech honoured our Retail Faculty Shahira as she is completing her 3 years of dedicated service as a best Trainer.

The Centre provided a tempting sumptuous meal to all the participants. After the lunch, the gathering began with the sharing of success stories of our previous students. Each stories were so motivating and encouraging. The event ended with a cultural programmes by the students. Mr. Hevin Vitus (Faculty- Communicative English ) gave a vote of thanks on behalf of DB Tech, Kollam .
