Since 1975 October 12th the Salesians directly cater to upliftment of the fishermen flock from Thakasseri to Eravipuram though various initiatives both social and spiritual. These initiatives have grown to become voluntary or autonomous bodies, such as Parish, FCDP, TMS, Boy's Home, Child Line, Don Bosco Youth Centre and now they run under the Quilon Don Bosco Society.
